When Current CalFlowers Members Were Founded

There's a common belief that because there are fewer California flower farmers in current times than 25 to 30 years ago that the state's floral industry must be experiencing hard times.  To be sure, the nature of the U.S. cut flower industry for domestic producers is vastly different than it was before imports dominated market share (1993).  Many domestic growers went out of business, especially in California, over the past 30 to 40 years; however, many saw  cut flower farming as attractive.  For example, 50% of the California CalFlowers members that are flower growers started their operations in the Current Era - since 1994, which is one year after imports represented slightly more than 50% of the U.S. flower market.  They saw something worthwhile!
